How to enrol

Incoming First Year Students

The enrolment process is by the way of written application only. Enrolment forms are available from the 3rd week of September for 6th class girls in primary schools. They are distributed to all Primary Schools in the area in early October.

All forms must be returned by the 30th November

  • There is an open morning for parents and students on the first Saturday after the October mid term break.
  • First offers will be made in mid December
  • Assessments will be held in January.
  • Parents/ Guardians are expected to attend an explanatory and introductry meeting with the School management.

Applicantst should apply by the 30th November of their final year in primary school. Parents coming into the area who wish to enrol a student should notify the school in advance or as soon as they know their arrangements and not later than 30 March of the year of entry.

Assessments will take place after the enrolment to ensure that each pupil is given every opportunity to maximize her potential.

Specific Procedures for First Year Enrolment

The applicant must have reached 12 years of age by 1 January of their first year in St.Wolstan’s Community School
A copy of the applicants birth certificate, two passport photographs and registration fee must accompany all applications
All applicants should have completed a full course of primary education or have followed an approved course.
Students are admitted to the school, subject to resources in the following order:
(a)Students living in Celbridge and attending school in Celbridge
(b)Students living in Straffan and attending school in Straffan.
(c)Students living in Ardclough and attending school in Ardclough.
(d)Students attending school outside Celbridge and living in Celbridge.
(e)Sisters of students already registered.
(f)Daughters of staff and of past pupils of St.Wolstan’s Community School.
(g)Students other than (a-f) on a first come first served basis.

The Board has an implied right and duty to limit the intake of pupils : it would be irresponsible of the Board to admit an excessive number of students as to do so would involve a decline in educational standards and a danger to health and safety in the school. Where the number of applicants exceeds the number of places a waiting list will be established. A place on the waiting list does not in any way guarantee a place in the school.

The Board of Management in accordance with the school policy makes decisions in relation to applications for enrolment. All admissions are subject to the approval of the Board of Management may review the admissions policy from time to time. The Board of Management takes the final decisions to the admissions policy.
