ENGLISH

The teaching and learning of English language and literature at St. Wolstan's follows a dynamic and generative approach. From Junior Cycle through Transition Year to Senior Cycle the English Department aims to create a desire for enquiry, analysis and understanding across the range of media. As English is a “maturing subject”, students are presented with opportunities which allow them build on their experience of language and literature. The syllabus is adapted to answer the audience that it serves.

Through their engagement with the subject students are encouraged to become critical, objective thinkers. They are encouraged to develop their innate skills as writers and commentators and they are facilitated in their growth as “experts”.
